Whose Fanning your flame?

If you’re out there trying to become the best version of yourself possible, it is likely that you seem like an obsessed person. Good! That means you’re not settling for the norms and that you’re passionate about your goal and desire to achieve success in your life.

When we’re competing in a team sport or a race ie. Marathon we thrive on the energy people give us when they scream and cheer for us. Many times we feel like quiting and giving up and we hear the encouragement of our fans and we push on. That’s nice.

Unfortunately when you’re in the real world and you’re beating yourself to the bone trying to carve yourself into the best human being you can be, you don’t always have those fans around. It is much easier to quit then. In fact those around you might be encouraging you to quit and stop being so obsessive.

This too is part of the journey, part of the challenge of becoming great. Push through and believe in the process. Life isn’t easy and it’s not meant to be easy. Make the hard decisions now and enjoy a great life. Take the easy way out now and suffer forever. Rest in the end, not while you are putting in the work.

Some people call those people around you haters. I don’t think they’re all haters, some are genuinely concerned about your well-being and “normal” people just don’t go so damn hard on everything they do. You have to believe in what you’re doing.

It’s great to have folks around you that encourage you. It’s great to have that one person when you need to hear some encouraging words. It’s nice to have someone call you out and tell you to keep pushing. But it’s ok not to have those people too. Not having those folks teaches you some great lessons as well.

Some folks thrive for attention and they need the encouraging words. It’s nice to have them but don’t depend on them. Depending on them can take you deep into a rabbit hole that you’re not meaning to go and honestly at times cancels the improvements you’re trying to make.

Sometimes we need to grow in silence. It’s really nice not to have to but sometimes that’s part of the process. Relationships are extremely valuable but not needing others has value in itself.

It’s Important to differentiate nice to’s vs need to’s

Love y’all
