New Year’s Gratitude

As another year draws to a close, I feel blessed to reflect on the journey behind me and set intentions for the one ahead. Today, sitting in church, I realized how often we’re eager to leave the past year behind, looking to January 1st as a magical reset. But this year, I want to shift my perspective. Instead of just saying goodbye to 2024, I want to deeply appreciate it and carry that gratitude forward.

2024 has been an incredible chapter in my life. I could never have imagined the journey I’ve been on over the past couple of decades, and this year was no exception. New city, new state, new job, a second book published, a beautiful home with a little land, countless opportunities, challenges, and lessons. I began new chapters for my third book and read so many more. Through it all, my family has been safe and blessed. Even the struggles didn’t overshadow the joy.

Kentucky—a place I never thought I’d call home has surprised me in the best ways. I’ve shared it with loved ones: my mother, brother, and in-laws all visiting and creating memories I’ll cherish forever.

I often say, “If you want life to get better, you have to get better.” I am far from perfect, and there’s always more to improve. But year by year, I’ve worked harder, held myself accountable, and strived to grow. The result is a journey I’m proud of: six moves, multiple states, two books, and the constant humbling reminder that I am still learning.

Reflecting on 2024, I am deeply grateful—not just for the milestones but for the growth, the challenges, the lessons, and the momentum I’ve built. I’ve learned to view each year not as something to escape but as a stepping stone to the next. Instead of saying, “Thank God this year is over,” I ask, “What can I start doing today to create the future I want?”

For 2025, I don’t have wild new goals. My focus is on sustaining the momentum I’ve built. I’m working on my career, my third book, my home, and my health—physical, mental, and spiritual. Perhaps I’ll tackle a few marathons or an ultra, but my life is on a steady, positive trajectory.

To all who read this: Be grateful for every battle, every struggle, every challenge, and every lesson. Life is a journey of constant growth, and each year is a blessing. Let’s carry that mindset into 2025 and beyond.

Love y’all and stay in the fight
