How do I get motivated?

Most of the nuggets of wisdom that I come in contact with are usually from self talk. After a busy days worth of work and frustrations I asked myself the question, How do I get myself motivated?

Then I realize that I’m asking the wrong question. The right question is, how do I build the discipline to do what I’m about to do? The answer is easy, the same way I’ve built discipline in all other things, action, action, action.

Watch words:

Actionable
Execution
Get started
Begin in the beginning
Take a step
Be willing to fail

If the need is to get motivated to read, then tell yourself to only read five pages now! Or run to the stop sign. Or go to the gym for 15 minutes. Or mow only the front lawn.

You may surprise yourself and plunge in for a few more pages, maybe half the block, a 45 workout or even mowing the side and back lawn too.

It all starts with one single step, an actionable. You must take responsibility for your life. Response-ability it’s up to you.

You know how you won’t achieve your goals? By making excuses, by giving others the ability to respond for you, by talking instead of by acting.

It may not be easy but it really is that simple.

Stay in the fight!

Love y’all

  1. Indeed! A common misconception is that motivation lead to action. Science has debunked this concept. It takes action for inspiration and motivation to really pick up steam. In fact, Newton’s 1st Law is that an object in motion stays in motion. So action leads to more action.
