Some of us talk a big talk
Some of us say family comes first but then don’t act on it.
I claim I’ve had a hard life. Yet, lots of it was fantastic. Growing up family had strong values. Like in every family there were good examples and bad ones. If we allow ourselves, we learn from both.
In my family folks took in nieces and nephews in a selfless manner to help, add value, and simply because that’s what family does. I’ve been blessed by this aspect of my family by a couple aunts and my grandparents.
In my family in-laws adopted the other one. In my family there was no such thing as half bloods or step family. Family was family. For better or worse. As a matter of fact, in my family death does not do us part.
I’m thankful for the example my family gave me. I feel the best way for me to honor my appreciation for this is to lead by example. Sometimes I want to boast in my values then I am humbled by realizing that my values came from little ripples along the way from generations past that I have chosen to cultivate in my daily life.
Keep the main thing the main thing.
Prioritize your priorities.
Be selfless.
Love hard.
Every single day my ego feels I’ve arrived somewhere.
Every night I realize I’m growing, learning, and being humbled on a daily basis.
This journey is just amazing.
