If I Know Better, Why Am I Not Doing Better?

I’m Jimmy Perez. Husband. Father. Author. Seeker.
I am a man who has spent much of his life searching for answers, only to discover that some of the most important questions are the ones we must have the courage to ask ourselves.
Why do we keep repeating patterns we know are hurting us? Why is it so difficult to live what we already know? Why do we sometimes spend years searching for peace while overlooking the things within us that keep us from experiencing it?
These are not questions I ask from a place of arrival. I ask them from the journey.
Welcome to If I Know Better, a space dedicated to exploring the human condition, understanding ourselves more honestly, and discovering what it means to live with greater awareness, intention, and spiritual alignment.
My writing explores the relationship between ego and spirit, knowledge and action, belief and experience. It examines the stories we tell ourselves, the fears that shape our decisions, the habits that keep us on autopilot, and the possibility of becoming something more than the person our past has taught us to be.
At the heart of this journey is my relationship with God.
I believe our spiritual lives are not meant to be confined to religious gatherings, familiar doctrines, or words spoken in prayer. They are meant to transform the way we live, the way we see ourselves, and, most importantly, the way we treat one another.
What does it mean to love God with everything we have? What would change if we took that invitation seriously? How might we treat our neighbors differently if we learned to see beyond our judgments, fears, and assumptions? And what if the work of becoming a better human being is not separate from our spiritual journey, but an essential part of it?
These are the questions that inspire my writing.
I have written several books, including If I Know Better, Why Am I Not Doing Better?, The Soul University, and The Two Within. Each explores a different dimension of the same pursuit: understanding who we are, why we do what we do, and how we can close the gap between the life we know we should live and the life we actually live.
I do not have all the answers. I have made mistakes, wrestled with my beliefs, questioned my assumptions, and discovered that genuine growth often begins when we stop trying to prove ourselves right and become willing to see ourselves clearly.
That is what I hope to share here. Not perfection, but progress. Not judgment, but understanding. Not answers that ask you to stop thinking, but questions that invite you to think more deeply.
You may agree with some of what I write and disagree with other parts. I welcome both. My intention is not to tell you what to think, but to encourage you to examine what you think, why you think it, and whether the way you live reflects what you claim to believe.
Because knowing better is only the beginning.
The real transformation happens when we begin living better.

We do not have to have it all figured out. We simply have to be willing to keep looking, keep learning, and keep becoming.
