God,
I come to You asking for understanding, for the ability to see what I cannot yet see, to recognize what I cannot yet recognize, and to find direction even when I cannot understand the plan.
It is so easy to look back on my life and connect the dots, to see how one experience led to another and how even the most difficult moments played a part in bringing me here. Yet it has always been much more challenging to live through those moments without knowing where they are leading.
Although I must admit, that has become much less difficult for me than it once was. I have learned to move through uncertainty with greater peace. I have learned to live in the present moment without feeling the desperate need to understand every circumstance, every challenge, or every turn in the road.
And as I sit here reflecting on that, I realize something. Perhaps I have been so focused on asking You for wisdom and understanding that I have failed to recognize the wisdom and understanding You have already helped me develop.
Perhaps You just spoke to me through this very realization. Perhaps this is what growth looks like. Perhaps I have been changing so gradually, one day at a time, that I haven’t noticed how much I have changed.
Or perhaps You have helped me understand something even more important: that I don’t need to understand everything.
So today, rather than asking You to help me understand every situation, I want to thank You for teaching me to live without needing all the answers.
Thank You for helping me recognize the progress I have made. Thank You for the lessons, the experiences, and the quiet moments of awareness that have slowly transformed the way I see my life. Thank You for speaking into my life, sometimes in ways I recognize immediately and sometimes in ways I only recognize after I have lived through them.
We can become so consumed with what we have yet to learn that we fail to appreciate how far we have already come. We overlook the small, incremental changes happening within us, forgetting that transformation rarely happens all at once. It happens one thought, one choice, one moment of surrender at a time.
Then, one day, we look back and realize that the person we once were no longer sees the world the same way. Our desires have changed. Our needs have changed. Our understanding of happiness has changed. Even the things that once seemed so important have begun to lose their grip on us.
Thank You for walking this journey with me, beside me, and within me. Thank You for helping me become more aligned with Your wisdom, Your presence, and the truth that I have spent so much of my life searching for.
Maybe this journey is not about acquiring more and more knowledge. Maybe it is about peeling away the layers of conditioning, confusion, fear, and distraction that have kept me from recognizing what has been here all along.
Maybe wisdom is not always about discovering something new. Maybe sometimes it is about finally seeing what was already in front of me.
I am so grateful for the life I get to live, for the life I am living right now. It is a life I don’t think I could have even imagined for myself years ago.
I dreamed of so many things I thought I wanted. I pursued ideas of happiness based on what I believed would make my life complete. And yet, what I have been given, what I have experienced, and what I have come to appreciate has turned out to be so much more meaningful than many of the things I once desired.
Thank You for the blessings I can see and the ones I may never fully understand. Thank You for the joy, the wisdom, the relationships, and the curiosity that continues to lead me deeper into reflection. Thank You for allowing me to revisit the teachings I have learned, to question my assumptions, to look beyond the surface, and to discover new meaning in truths I thought I already understood.
I stand in awe of how much my life has changed, and even more in awe that I have not fully recognized the extent of that change until now.
I am grateful for the desires that no longer control me, the needs that no longer define me, and the questions that no longer demand immediate answers.
I am grateful for the peace that comes from not having to know everything, for the faith that allows me to keep walking without seeing the entire path, and for the growing awareness that perhaps I have been looking so hard for understanding that I have overlooked the understanding already taking root within me.
So today, I will not ask You to explain everything.
Instead, I will thank You for helping me become someone who can live with uncertainty, appreciate the present, learn from the past, and trust that I can meet the future one moment at a time.
Thank You for the life I have been given, the life I am learning to appreciate, and the person I am slowly becoming.
Thank You for reminding me that sometimes the greatest blessing is not receiving the answer to a question, but discovering that I no longer need to ask it.
I am grateful. I am humbled. And I am in awe of how much there is to appreciate when I stop searching long enough to recognize what is already here.
Amen.

Some of the greatest lessons we learn don’t surface until the challenge is overcome. The more we’re tested, the wiser we become
