Adam’s Corner – Resilience

Resilience

You bust your behind hard enough, long enough, you don’t complain, you grow daily, you earn every bit of your life.

Life begins to feel like it should.

Then the floor falls off from under your feet and you find yourself in a place you never expected to ever be.

The comeback of that is the epitome of Resilience, right?

Maybe.

I’ve always found the word Resilience as something almost mysterious.

As life goes on, I’ve come to understand and cherish that word so much more. Sometimes it’s just been the underdog in me reflecting on my past struggles. Other times I realize that I’m not done with hard times and the fact that I still have to be resilient.

Life is what you make it right?

Maybe.

You do good, you get good, right?

Maybe.

There’s always a plan working in the background, right? A plan outside your control, right?

Maybe.

So is that to say that you can do everything you’re supposed to do and things can still not go according to plan?

Most definitely a possibility.

Should I stop working so hard and relentlessly if whatever is going to happen is going to happen anyway?

Not even a little bit.

The only constant in life is change and challenge.

Throwing a wrench in the plans happens usually when you least expect it yet when it hurts the most.

The best you can do is to set yourself up where when these challenges come about, you’re set to absorb the blows.

What if you’re not in a place to absorb the blows?

You train on the good times to withstand the hard times and to demonstrate your toughness when placed under pressure.

This is one of those times that you hold your head up tall, suck it up and charge.

Don’t be reckless though. It’s easy to react quickly and emotionally.

Breathe deeply and relax. Reflect on the situation.

Find a way to take full responsibility for everything that’s transposed.

Ask yourself the question, what is the best thing I can do right now?

Get active; walk, run, swim, bike, workout, just get active with something you can release some energy. Blood flow is very important for the mind, nerves, and soul at this challenging time.

If you follow those steps, you’ll find that you know several ways to attack this situation.

Now, take action, act, work the plan and execute.

There’s no magic pill to being Resilient. It’s a standard. If you fall, are you ok with staying down? Or is being Resilient your only option?

If you know better, why aren’t you doing better?

Live responsibly
